Plant Management
Accountable for all site engineering, project, and operations activities for a new technology cellulosic sugar demonstration plant that had been mothballed for three years.
Project Manager
Led project development of one-off plant modification projects, developed and lead process improvement projects for facility management transition. Completed 96 projects with a combined value of $13.2MM, primarily for capacity and yield improvement. Developed a complete facility mass-energy balance and prioritized future projects and solutions.
Facility Management
Led all engineering, construction management, and operations activities to build and operate a greenfield $210MM 2500mtd canola crush / refinery in Saskatchewan. Scope included PID and layout development for all processes and utilities, equipment specification and purchase, contractor evaluation, and selection.
Led 22 separate engineering firms in 3 countries to complete the plant engineering. Corrected and created PIDs as needed, oversaw equipment specification, selection, and purchasing. Developed and implemented the commissioning plan. Hired and trained the site management team and led the hiring and training of line personnel
Global Process Leadership
Participated in the development of a global team based on the success of the Best Practice roles in North America and Europe. Led global teams in improving unit process performance for neutralization and deodorization. Provided global “911” response for urgent plant issues.
Refinery Best Practice Management
Led critical initiatives for operational excellence, yield improvement, energy reduction, and wastewater management for 8 vegetable oil refineries in North America. Provided remote and on-site technical support for existing and new refineries in Asia, Australia, and South America. Developed and supported a $62MM project across 4 plants to process a new oil for a unique customer solution. Led training and technical initiatives to improve regional and global refinery oil yield. Led plant and engineering teams in development of world-class repair and maintenance practices. Provided global support as needed and as opportunity arose.
